Volunteer Opportunity Spotlight: Fauna Survey at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

The weekly fauna walks at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center focus on spotting and documenting everything from tiny arthropods to birds and reptiles. With cameras or phones, curiosity, and guidance from coordinator Val Bugh, we’re building a clearer picture of the gardens as a living ecosystem.
We meet on Thursdays at 8:30 AM near the Observation Tower; ask for Val Bugh when you arrive. If you contact one of our participating chapter members (Mika Geiger, Deana Dossey, and Yvi Karnath), they will try to meet you there for your first fauna survey.
To register, fill out the Volunteer Application and pick “fauna survey.” Val Bugh will contact you once you’ve registered. Past survey results can be found here: http://www.austinbug.com/survey/faunaproject.html
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is located at 4801 La Crosse Ave. If you’re interested in helping with other activities, their volunteer opportunities include working in the gardens, greenhouses & natural areas, serving as guides, assisting with youth and family education, and helping at festivals and seasonal seminars.
