Volunteer Spotlight: Bull Creek Foundation

Volunteer Spotlight: Bull Creek Foundation

The Bull Creek Foundation was founded in 1994 to be a steward of the Bull and West Bull Creek Watersheds. Its creation was prompted by the citizen effort to preserve the Stenis Tract, which was purchased in January 1999 as Water Quality Protection Land. Since its founding, the Foundation has been an all-volunteer effort that has built and maintained trails, organized work days to maintain the greenbelt and district park, and completed a wide range of improvement projects throughout the watershed.

Our chapter has been involved in the mapping and removal of invasive plant species in the Stenis Tract since 2023. The next phase of our Bull Creek Watershed Invasives Removal Project will focus on Ligustrum lucidum and Nandina domestica in the Bull Creek Bluff Neighborhood Park. Our chapter will be responsible for 10 acres on the very scenic, bluff side of the creek. Saturday, March 14th will be our first workday – please join us! See the chapter calendar or the bull-creek-watershed-invasives-removal-project Slack channel for details.
