Volunteer Spotlight: Texas Master Naturalist Bat Acoustic Project

🦇 Texas Master Naturalist Bat Acoustic Project 🌙

Want to spend time outdoors or rack up volunteer hours from the comfort of your home? Either way, we’ve got bats for that!

This spring, Texas Master Naturalists are teaming up with the North American Bat Monitoring Program to collect and analyze acoustic data from foraging bats in the Balcones Preserve—and we need your help.

Two fun ways to get involved:

🌿 Field Volunteers
Love being outside? We’re looking for volunteers to help deploy and move bat acoustic recorders around the preserve on a weekly basis. It’s a great excuse to explore, enjoy the spring weather, and contribute to real bat conservation.💻 Data Analysts
Prefer a desk, coffee, and headphones? Analysts will review acoustic files and help verify bat calls. This is an excellent way to earn a lot of volunteer hours, especially in the spring—and you’ll gain a valuable new skill along the way.
