Volunteers Needed for the 2025 Insect EXPO
Monday, March 24, 9AM-1:30PM
The Entomological Society of America, Southwestern Branch, is holding its annual meeting in Round Rock, TX, in March of 2025. Along with the meeting, we are hosting an Insect EXPO for area 3rd-5th graders. Insect EXPO is a free event for area students to come and learn about insects and other arthropods in a fun, hands-on way.
While we have volunteers who are meeting attendees – professors, students, extension professionals, industry professionals, etc. – we need A LOT of volunteers to pull this off. Which is where y’all come in. If you would like to volunteer for EXPO, please email Wizzie Brown at ebrown@ag.tamu.edu
You can volunteer from 8 AM to 11 AM, 11 AM to 2 PM, or 8 AM to 2 PM. On the day of the event, we will have various booths set up – usually around 20 – and you will be assigned to a booth to interact with the kids, explain the activity, and whatever about insects (we’ll teach you what you need to know for your booth or pair you with a bug person), and help out with said activity as required.
We have two shifts that kids can visit; the first begins at 9 AM and goes to 11:00, and the second starts at 11:30 and goes to 1:30.
