Creating a Pollinator Garden at Mansfield Dam

Creating a Pollinator Garden at Mansfield Dam

Here’s a fun weekend project: join your fellow Texas Master Naturalists on on Sunday, September 26, from 8 a.m. to noon to help develop pollinator gardens at Mansfield Dam Park.

According to Balcones Canyonlands chapter member Sandra Williams, graduate of the 2021 class, the project that was started in Spring of this year now needs a bit of TLC.

“The first garden did not completely take, so we are hoping to redefine the space during the upcoming workday.”

The garden includes two spaces: one that wraps around the office building, and another that 28 by 20 foot plot. Williams is looking for volunteers who are interested in garden design, plant identification, and some “get your hands dirty” activities like pruning and relocating existing plants.

“It will be fun!” said Williams. “You’re looking at the lake, so what more can you ask for?”
