Next Chapter Meeting Tuesday, April 17th at 7:00 pm – The Importance of Citizen Science

Where did my data go? How iNaturalist Data Supports Conservation Efforts
Have you ever wondered where iNaturalist data goes and how it helps conservation work? Our April Chapter Meeting will feature staff from the Texas Natural Diversity Database. They will demonstrate how citizen science data is linked to broader goals for species conservation. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at how collected data is processed. You will learn about the methods used to prioritize species and gain a clearer understanding of important terms such as “Species of Greatest Conservation Need” and the “G1S1 rank.”
Improving Observations for Conservation
The session will also include a review of how iNaturalist users can refine their observations. These improvements help inform ongoing conservation efforts, making citizen contributions even more valuable.
The Importance of Citizen Science As the world’s biodiversity faces unprecedented challenges, collaborative citizen science has become more crucial than ever. By working together, both experts and volunteers play an essential role in supporting conservation initiatives. Join us Tuesday, April 17 at 7PM.
